How to use Image Blur Tool

Only the marked area is affected — the rest of the image stays exactly as it was. You can mark and blur as many areas as you need before exporting, and undo any selection stroke before applying it. Limitations

  • Very large selections on very large images may take a moment longer to render than a small selection
  • Blur intensity is capped at 40px — for a completely unreadable result on small text, use a larger brush/rectangle rather than relying on intensity alone

Does this tool upload my photo anywhere?
No. The image is loaded and blurred entirely in your browser using the Canvas API. It's never sent to a server, logged, or stored.
Can I blur more than one area in the same photo?
Yes. After clicking "Apply Blur," the selection clears and you can mark another area (a second face, another line of text) and blur it too, any number of times, before exporting.
What's the difference between the brush and rectangle tools?
The brush lets you paint a freeform area at whatever size you set — good for following an irregular shape like a face. The rectangle tool drags out a straight-edged box — faster for text, a license plate, or anything with a clean rectangular boundary.
Can I undo a selection before applying the blur?
Yes — the Undo button removes the last brush stroke or rectangle you drew, before you click "Apply Blur." Once blur is applied, use "Show original" to compare, or "Reset" to start over completely.
How strong can the blur be?
The blur intensity slider ranges from a light 2px softening up to a strong 40px blur, strong enough to make text or faces genuinely unreadable/unrecognizable rather than just softened.
