X Video Downloader

Paste the link of a public X (Twitter) post and download its video as an MP4, in the quality you choose.

FreeInstant

The post link you paste is sent to this site's lookup service (a Cloudflare Worker), which asks X's public endpoint for the video's file addresses and returns them to your browser. If X's endpoint doesn't return the post, the service asks FixTweet's public API instead, sending only the post's numeric ID. We don't store the link or build any record of it, though Cloudflare's own infrastructure may log standard request metadata. The video file itself is then downloaded by your browser directly from X's servers (video.twimg.com) and never passes through this site.

How to use X Video Downloader

Paste the link of a public X (formerly Twitter) post that contains a video, and the tool lists every MP4 quality the post offers, from the smallest version up to full HD where X provides it. Pick one and your browser downloads the file straight from X's own video servers, with no watermark, no account, and no usage limit on your side. Because X doesn't let a web page read its posts directly, the link you paste is sent to a small lookup service that asks X for the video's file addresses and returns them. The video itself never passes through this site. Works with x.com and twitter.com links, including animated GIFs, which X stores as short MP4 clips.

Key features

  • Lists every MP4 quality the post offers, with resolution and exact file size
  • Works with x.com and twitter.com links, including animated GIFs stored as MP4
  • Real file download with a progress indicator, straight from X's own servers
  • No account, no watermark, and no download limit on your side
  • The video never passes through this site, only the post link is looked up

Practical use cases

  • Saving your own X video before editing it or posting it elsewhere
  • Keeping a copy of a clip you have permission to reuse, such as a brand or client post
  • Downloading a short animated GIF from a post as a small MP4 file
  • Grabbing a smaller-resolution version of a video to share over a slow connection

Limitations

  • Only videos in public posts work; private, protected, deleted, and some age-restricted posts cannot be reached
  • It relies on an unofficial public endpoint from X, so it can stop working without notice if X changes it
  • Only MP4 files are offered; streaming-only (HLS) versions and audio-only downloads are not supported
  • The lookup service allows 20 requests per minute per connection to prevent abuse
  • The whole video is loaded into browser memory before it is saved, so very long videos can be slow on low-memory devices
  • You are responsible for having the right to download and reuse a video; the tool doesn't grant any rights to it

Frequently asked questions

Is my video uploaded to your server?
No. Only the post link you paste is sent to our lookup service, which asks X (or, if X doesn't return the post, FixTweet's public API, using just the post's numeric ID) for the video's file addresses and sends them back. The video file itself is downloaded by your browser directly from X's own servers (video.twimg.com), so it never passes through this site or the lookup service. We don't keep the links you paste.
Why does it say no video was found?
The post most likely isn't reachable. The usual reasons are that the post is from a private or protected account, was deleted, is age-restricted, or simply contains no video (an image or text post). Check that the link points to a specific post, in the form x.com/username/status/1234567890, and that you can open it while logged out. If the post plays for you logged out, try again in a minute, since X's public endpoint is occasionally unavailable.
Can I download videos from private accounts?
No. The tool only works with videos from public posts, because it reads the same public information a logged-out visitor can see. It has no login and never asks for your X credentials, so protected accounts and posts that require signing in cannot be reached.
Which quality should I pick?
Pick the highest resolution unless file size matters. X usually offers several MP4 versions of the same video, typically from 270p up to 720p or 1080p, and the label next to each shows its resolution and its exact file size. Smaller versions download faster and suit phones or messaging apps, while the largest is best for editing or archiving. Older videos sometimes exist in only one or two qualities.
Is it legal to download videos from X?
It depends on the video and what you do with it. Saving your own videos, or videos you have permission to use, is fine. Videos posted by others are usually protected by copyright, and X's terms of service also restrict how its content may be copied and reused. This tool doesn't grant any rights to the videos it downloads, so only save and share content you are entitled to use.
