Image Crop

Crop a JPG, PNG, WEBP, GIF, or BMP image with a draggable, resizable crop box, right in your browser.

FreeBrowser-basedInstant

Your files are processed locally in your browser and are not uploaded to our servers. Your image and the crop you choose are processed entirely in your browser — nothing is uploaded to a server at any point.

How to use Image Crop

Drop in an image, drag the crop box to the area you want to keep — move it, resize it from any edge or corner, or lock it to a preset aspect ratio like square, 4:3, or 16:9 — then click "Crop image." Export the result as JPG, PNG, or WEBP and download it. Everything runs locally in your browser; nothing is uploaded.

Key features

  • Drag-to-move, drag-to-resize crop box with 8 resize handles
  • Optional aspect ratio lock (square, 4:3, 3:4, 16:9, 9:16, 3:2, 2:3, or free)
  • Live crop dimension readout in pixels as you adjust the box
  • Export as JPG, PNG, or WEBP with an adjustable quality slider
  • One-click download of the cropped result

Practical use cases

  • Cropping a photo to a square for a social media profile picture
  • Cutting an image down to a 16:9 thumbnail for a video or blog post
  • Removing unwanted background or edges from a photo before using it elsewhere
  • Preparing a product photo at a specific aspect ratio for an online listing

Supported formats

Accepted: jpg, png, webp, gif, bmp — Output: jpg, png, webp

Limitations

  • The crop box's resize handles are pointer-only (drag with a mouse, trackpad, or touchscreen) — moving the box itself can also be nudged with arrow keys once focused
  • Very large images (many megapixels) may be slower to crop on low-memory devices

Frequently asked questions

Does this tool upload my image anywhere?
No. The image is loaded and cropped entirely in your browser using the Canvas API. It's never sent to a server.
Can I lock the crop to a specific aspect ratio?
Yes. Choose a preset like Square (1:1), 4:3, 16:9, or their portrait equivalents from the "Aspect ratio" dropdown, and the crop box will resize proportionally. Choose "Free" to resize without any constraint.
What image formats are supported?
You can upload JPG, PNG, WEBP, GIF, or BMP, and export the cropped result as JPG, PNG, or WEBP.
Is there a size limit?
Files up to 20 MB are supported, and images up to 8000px on their longest side.
